Local Area Networks

A local area network (LAN) is a network over a relatively small geographical area, normally one building or group of buildings. Having a LAN allows the enabled devices (PC, Telephone, Fax etc) to communicate with each other. It allows shared storing and communal activities to take place. For instance networking a printer.
